It’s Saturday evening and my empty home is vibrating to the blasting music of System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine. I’m on my knees, screaming the lyrics to these songs I used to love, simultaneously wondering if my 80-year-old neighbors can hear me next door (probably), while also nudging myself to surrender and
Loved the rage dancing / screaming with rage against in the machine. Have you ever heard of ecstatic dance? I used to do it a lot when I practiced yoga in a studio and usually the music has no lyrics, you dance with a group and nobody talks — it feel spiritual, evocative, cathartic.
Yesss I’ve gone to a few ecstatic dances before and I completely forgot about them until your comment! Thank you for the reminder, I may look up to see when there’s more happening near me. I would loveee to do that sometime in a women’s only group too, I feel like that would be even more magical ✨
Dear Aaliyah, this is everything 🤍🤍 thank you for sharing from the depths of your heart and journey. Even though my own journey of learning to feel and hold emotional intensity has different roots and sources, your words resonate so deeply, because as you wrote so beautifully, our emotions (both the heavy and the light) are the doorway to truly living life. So, so proud of you and I’m in awe of being able to witness your courage and fierce beauty in living life ✨✨ so much love!!!
my dear suyin 😭 thank you so much for your sweet loving support. I am so incredibly grateful for you and our friendship and the intimacy to which we can share and support one another on this wild ride through life. your comments hit me to my core and fill me with so much love, I am so grateful for you! soooo much love 💗
It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. After stopping my anti anxiety medication, which took months because of horrible withdrawal symptoms, I slowly started to feel better. Many months of healing and crying and wondering if I could do this. You can and you will get through it. Your life will be better. Sending love as you navigate this wonderful part of your journey. 🤍✨
